She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Dewey B. and Ruby R. Shealy; her grandparents, Oscar R. and Mary S. Shealy and Milton A and Marie F. Riddle; and her second “father,” Herbert J. Lindler.
She is survived by her aunt, Cathryn Lindler, who was like her second mom after Tammy’s mom passed; her bonus siblings, Vicky (Derald) Edwards and Juleen (Eddie) Stuck and their families. She is also survived by her “adopted” immediate family, Douglas Shealy, Dean Shealy (LuAnne), Becky Boland (Darin), Jean (Kelvin) Frick, Nelson (Lynn) Riddle, Jody (Teresa) Riddle, Mary Shealy and their families who always included her in birthday celebrations, holidays, and other special occasions to assure she didn’t celebrate alone. Their kindness was never forgotten. Lastly, Tammy was blessed with long-time friends who have been there through her valleys and mountain tops – Karon and James “Jimmy” Hazel and Berley Rister, Jr.
Tammy was a member of Little Mountain Eastern Star and past 2 times worthy Matron of Ballentine DES #280 prior to its consolidation. She also served as Treasury for a number of years.
Tammy was a graduate of Chapin High School and graduated from Newberry College in 1986 with a double major in accounting and business administration. After working a number of years part time at the old Chapin pharmacy as one of “Doc’s girls,” upon graduation she worked in private industry with two law enforcement supply companions for over 11 years. In 1998, Tammy began her career at SCANA Corporation and its umbrella subsidiaries. She spent 17 years in cash management and prior to Dominion merger, which she considered the highlight of her career, along with her latest position as a business systems analyst.
Tammy’s favorite things were working fundraisers for 501 C charities, especially Wheeland School House Turkey Stew and Boyleston Lodge Chickens BBQ fundraiser. She was a member of Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, previously served on the Church Council, and was a member of the Choir and Handbell Choir.
She enjoyed simple things of sitting around a fire pit with friends; laughing and joking. That is how she would choose to be remembered.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, 101 E Boundary St, Chapin, SC 29036, with visitation to take place one hour prior. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
