Stanley Bruce Matthews passed away peacefully on October 18, 2022, surrounded by his family at his longtime home in Chapin, SC overlooking Lake Murray. Stan was born December 29, 1954 in Dorchester County, South Carolina to the late Albert Carlton Matthews and Sarah Bruce Matthews.
He was a diehard Clemson fan and loved to watch NASCAR any chance he got. His favorite places in the world were his home on Lake Murray that he built with his father and Beech Mountain, NC where he loved to travel with his wife, Kathy, to see the snow. The most important thing in the world to Stan was his family and he took every opportunity to spend time with his family, especially his grandkids, who adored their “Andaddy”. One of his biggest hobbies was cooking and he loved to cook and grill for his family and friends. He retired from ATT and served as a volunteer firefighter for Lexington County for 25 years where he ascended to the rank of Assistant Chief at the Crossroads Fire Station.
