Chief Samuel B. Watson SR, a declared veteran of The United States Navy, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024 at the age of 72. Born in Texas, Sam proudly served his country on The U.S.S. Silversides (submarine). Following his retirement of the USN, he was a nuclear electrical instructor at VC Summer Nuclear Power Plant for 30 years.
Sam enjoyed car racing, working on cars, and riding his Harley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Doris Watson; his 3 sons: David Watson, Sam Watson and Robert Watson; his daughter, Jennifer Watson; his daughter-in-law, Caitlin Watson; his grandchildren: TJ, Jannette, Christa and Willie Oliver, Everette and Emerson Watson; and his brothers, Gene and Wally Watson.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lela and Wallace Watson; and his son, Brandon Watson.
A visitation will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 3:30 PM to 4:45 PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home - Chapin Chapel, 123 Columbia Ave, Chapin, South Carolina 29036, with a memorial service to follow at 5:00 PM.
