CHAPIN – Richard Dean Amick passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in HarborChase Assisted Living, Columbia, SC. Mr. Amick was born to Brady Lee Amick and Blanche Haltiwanger Amick in West Columbia, SC on January 12, 1945. He graduated from Brookland Cayce High School, Cayce, SC, and completed the drafting program at Falls College in Atlanta, GA. Dean retired from the Nuclear Fuel Division of Westinghouse after 30 years of service.
Mr. Amick spent his lifetime in pursuit of the most effective and efficient manner to achieve the highest level of quality in all of his endeavors. Dean loved his family and his primary focus was in providing a home for the enrichment of daily living of his loved ones.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Rhonda Brown Amick of Chapin, SC; son, Richard Brent Amick of Nashville, TN; daughter, Morgan Victoria Amick of Chapin, SC; sister, Edith Amick Horton (Bob) of West Columbia, SC; sister, Janice Amick Holt (Jack) of Gilbert, SC; sister, Dorothy Amick Whitman of West Columbia, SC; sister-in-law, Edna Amick (Robert) of Chapin, SC; brother-in-law, Bruce Linder (Gayle) of West Columbia, SC and many special nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Robert Amick, sister, Gayle Amick Linder and sister, Brenda Amick Partridge.
The family will be receiving friends at a visitation to be held in the sanctuary of Chapin United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., with the memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington (PO Box 237), Chapin, SC 29036 or to the Midlands Office of the South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd, Ste 100, West Columbia, SC 29169.
The family is greatly appreciative of the loving care and support provided by the efficient staff at HarborChase and by the staff of Lutheran Hospice, who all contributed to his comfort, peace and dignity at the end of his life.
