Nathaline (Nat) Harrison McCartha passed to her heavenly home on September 1, 2024. Born April 29, 1932, in Old Hickory TN, she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. Harrison and Ada Parris Harrison. A member of Bethel Lutheran Church in White Rock, in recent years she was a resident of the Heritage at Lowman.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina, she was the author of BATTLEGROUND OF FREEDOM: South Carolina in the Revolution, published by Sandlapper Press 1970. For many years Mrs. McCartha operated Dutch Fork Antiques in Irmo, SC. She was first married to the late Sam Hilborn, and secondly to the late Bob McCartha. Surviving are sons, Scott Hilborn (Anne), Mark Hilborn (Lynn), Ben Hilborn (Kathryn); and daughter, Carrie Hilborn Gantt (Carl); eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces, Donna Collins and Stacy Lynch; and nephew, Russell Moore. In addition to her parents and husbands, Nat was predeceased by her sister, Betty Harrison Moore (Don).
Funeral Services will be held on September 16, 2024 at 11 AM at the Bethel Lutheran Church. Private burial will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, PO Box 367, White Rock, SC 29177, or to Heritage at Lowman, PO Box 444, White Rock, SC 29177.
