Mary Syrett Kern, 94, was born April 21, 1928 in Charleston, SC and passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Madeline and William Syrett. She was predeceased by her brother, Francis Gordon Syrett and son, Frederick Mark Kern.
She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Adele Kern of Matthews, NC and Nan Kern Nicholson (James) of Jasper, GA; son, Joseph William Kern (Carolyn) of Hilton Head Island, SC; granddaughter, Madalyn Diane Kern of South Salt Lake, UT; along with nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and a very loving and connected extended family of Bowers, Gray, and Wessinger/Lindler families.
Mary was long time resident of Chapin and active in the community and Mt. Horeb church. Mary enjoyed quilting and all arts and crafts. Always positive attitude, Mary shared her love through outreach, note cards, ornaments, thoughtful treats/gifts and hosting loving dinners for family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM January 14, 2023 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church with reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
