Marsha Jo Coleman, 75, of Chapin, SC, passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 30, 1949, in Columbia, SC, Marsha graduated from A.C. Flora High School in 1967 and was a member of the F.G.O. Social Club. She attended Asheville Biltmore College, then later completed the police academy and became a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agent, specializing in intelligence and arson investigations. Her skill, professionalism, and dedication to justice earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and the community. Marsha was also a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Throughout her life, Marsha was defined by love, laughter, and a deep commitment to service. Known for her boundless energy, sharp wit, and infectious joy, she was always the life of the party. Marsha had a remarkable ability to light up any room with her humor, intelligence, and kind heart. Time spent with her was filled with laughter, and her quick wit and hilarious nature never failed to bring smiles to those around her.
An avid nature lover, Marsha had an exceptional green thumb and took great pride in her gardens. She found serenity in tending to her plants and connecting with the natural world. She also had a passion for music, known for singing loudly and off-key with unbridled enthusiasm her joyful spirit never missed a note.
In addition to her love of nature and music, Marsha loved spending time at Pawleys Island, SC, where she enjoyed walking on the beach, searching for shells and shark's teeth. These moments, shared with family, created cherished memories in a place close to her heart. Marsha also loved to travel, attend concerts, and explore new adventures. She embraced life with curiosity, enthusiasm, and a sense of fun, creating memories wherever she went. Her passion for experiencing life to the fullest reflected her vibrant, adventurous spirit.
Above all, Marsha was an incredible mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always there for her daughters and grandchildren, offering unwavering support, encouragement, and love. Marsha took great pride in her family, and her legacy of kindness, encouragement, and laughter will forever be cherished.
Marsha was predeceased by her parents, J.C. and Frances Coleman, and her sister, Betty Jean Coleman. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Kelly (Brian) and Betsy Nichols, and her treasured granddaughters, Elizabeth and Isabella Kelly, Jenna Blume (Nichols), and Elspeth “Elsa” Nichols.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 19, at 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Columbia, SC.
Marsha's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and in the countless lives she touched.
