Born on May 15, 1939 in Newark, New Jersey, to Thomas and Catherine Wilson, she spent most of her life as a resident of Spring Lake and Brielle, NJ, before moving to Chapin, South Carolina, eight years ago. She was a graduate of Our Lady Queen of Peace High School in North Arlington, NJ before attending Saint Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Orange, NJ, where she earned her nursing degree. She was a registered nurse at Point Pleasant Hospital in the maternity ward for over 20 years as well as a real estate broker in Brielle, NJ for another 20. She was an exempt member of the Spring Lake and Brielle First Aid Squads, becoming the second female member of the Spring Lake First Aid Squad. She also served as captain for both. For 20 years while on the squad, she provided medical care to injured players at Manasquan High School football games. She also loved volunteering and spent countless hours and weekends helping the community at St. Francis.
As a young woman, she met and fell in love with her adoring husband, John “Jack” Baatz on the beach in Belmar, NJ. They were married in 1960, and shortly thereafter started their family. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Joseph Baatz (Cathy), Jaclyn Bader (Alan), and Mark Baatz (Yvonne Torres-Baatz); her grandchildren, Joshua Bader (Lindsay) and their children Aaron and Josslyn, Emily Bader (Kenneth Hutchinson, fiancé), Joseph Baatz Jr. (Tiffany) and their children Christopher and Billy, Peter Burdack (Billie) and their children Alice, Maeve, Conrad and Patrick, Lynn Tedeschi (Anthony) and their children Gabrielle and Antonio, Giovanni Torres-Baatz, Giancarlo Torres-Baatz and Angelina Torres-Baatz; her brother, Tom Wilson (Cheryl); her sister-in-law, Patricia Meltesen (Tom), and a large extended family. She is predeceased by her devoted husband, Jack and beloved grandson, Christopher John Baatz.
Lynn lived a full life as a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mentor and friend. She loved spending time playing mahjong and bunco, and cherished her outings at the Women’s Club. A Jersey girl at heart, her sharp wit and fierce intellect brought an unmatched passion to everything she did and everyone around her. She was an incredible chef - don’t get us started on her Thanksgiving stuffing! – and treasured her “Scotties”. She made sure to love with all she had and found great purpose sharing in the successes, joys and challenges of her loved ones. Her presence will be missed deeply by all who loved and knew her. She is and always will be the best mom, Mom-Mom, and Gigi, and will forever be in our hearts.
An intimate gathering to celebrate Lynn’s life will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Timberlake Country Club. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Chapin Women’s Club Scholarship Fund, PO Box 42, Chapin, South Carolina 29036.
