Gale Boland

The lovely Gale Elaine Sternenberg Boland, mother of Channing Joel Sternenberg Boland, passed away April 26, 2020, at the age of 69. Her son, Channing (age 27) was her only child whom she loved deeply and cherished. She leaves behind him and a beautiful granddaughter named London Chanelle Boland (age 6). She has two brothers and two sisters-in-law. Among them Gale was an aunt to 11 nieces/nephews, and a great aunt to 13 great nieces/nephews. She also has six aunts and one uncle that have survived.

Gale was born on November 6, 1950 in Peak, SC and lived her adolescent years in Parr and Chapin, South Carolina. She moved to Columbia in the late 80s after starting her career at Southern Bell in the mid-70s, working numerous job titles ranging from basic entry typist for personnel to Personnel Director. Most of her career was at Southern Bell and, once she retired from there, she worked for The Governor's Office as a Program Coordinator for Government Contracting and for The City of Columbia as a director of small minority businesses. While working at these different establishments she had many talents, which lead to her being successful in her career.

Gale had a pure heart and a beautiful soul. She lived a full and blessed life by doing simple pleasures, chatting with family and giving her opinion and insight on things. She was driven by Christ Jesus and his Word. Her passion was reading the Bible, being a mother and DEFINITELY being a grandmother. Gale loved many and wanted to change to the world and help so many people in it. She will also be remembered; but more loved and cherished by friends, family and, of course, God.

A drive-thru visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The graveside service will be viewable by livestreaming on Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ChapinChapel/ at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
