Sylvia E. Gillis

Sylvia E. Gillis, 76, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at her Home in Gilbert, surrounded by her husband Thomas, her children and dear friends. Sylvia was born July 31, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio. She is the Beloved Wife of Thomas Gillis, loving Mother of Lawrence (Kim) and Jill Ann McDonough, Christine Winner {Robert, Sr) and Raymond Kettel (Tricca). Loving Stepmother to Scott and Curt Gillis (Lydia). Cherished daughter of the late Theodore Stacho and the late Dorris Stacho. Dear Sister of the late Theodore Stacho, Jr. (The late Lois), the late Leslie Stacho (Becky), Linda Chipgus (the late Raymond) and Roy Stacho (Pam). Sylvia was the Grandmother of 14; Madisyn and Peyton Wiley, Lily and Scarlett McDonough, Robert Jr, Marcus, Matthew and Michael Winner, Rebecca, Samantha and Breanna Kettel, Jeremy, Tristan and Vanessa Gillis.

Sylvia moved from Cleveland , Ohio to Tempe, Arizona In July of 1978. She worked as a Paralegal for more than 40 years, in the Cleveland and Phoenix areas. She was united in marriage to Thomas Gillis on May 29, 1994. They were married for 22 blissful years.

Sylvia was a member of the Red Hats and enjoyed every moment with her Red Hat Ladies. She loved to play Cards at the Chandler Senior Center and she was passionately involved in he Autism Community, as two of her granddaughters have Autism.

The Services for Sylvia, will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S. Dobson Rd. Mesa, AZ. The family will greet friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. for the Visitation. Immediately following the Visitation will be the funeral. You are invited to Tom and Sylvia's home at 5pm to further celebrate Sylvia's life. Food and drinks will be served.
