Adam and Eve. Anthony and Cleopatra. Sonny and Cher. These are all couples throughout history that we easily remember. And so it is with Ron and Ruthjon. They just simply go together like salt and pepper. You can't think of one without the other. Both of them believe in a life of service. Both enjoy conversing with and getting to know anyone in their orbit. And both have the hootzpah to live and enjoy life to its fullest. It seems cruel, then, to know that one is left to navigate this world solo. Dearest Ruthjon, surround yourself with all of the family, friends, and Lion's Club members whose relationships  you have cultivated throughout the years. May they give you comfort and keep your days active until the time when you will once again be reunited with your dearest Ron. Mr. Wick was my first principal when I started teaching in the Mukilteo School District. He knew every student's name at Olivia Park Elementary. He was a good mentor. One fond memory:  I was having a spring scavenger hunt. He dressed up as a bunny and passed out treats to my students. He was a great man and will be missed.

My memories of Ron are from our Olivia Park (Mukilteo School District) days. I was a fairly new teacher at the time and grew a lot under his leadership. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

RIP Ron (Mr Wick).  What an honorable man!!!  Many many memories of Mr Wick the Principle in  Jr High and Ron, the friend in adulthood.  Always caring of others and encouraging them to “go for it”.  He will be very missed and forever remembered.

I only works with Ron for about a year before Borders Chandler closed, but he made a lasting impression.  As a young woman in my 20s in a manger role, I often struggled balancing the stress and pressure of being in charge.  Not only was Ron one of my favorite people to work with because of his strong work ethic and positive attitude, he  also always put things in perspective for me and could often turn a stressful day around for me.  All it would take were some kind and encouraging words from him and maybe a little something that made me smile.   While this may seem simple, it had a profound impact on me as this kind of respect was not always given to me by the older males who I had managed before.  It was obvious he had way more experience than me in all things, but instead of being condensing and dismissive, he was encouraging and gracious.  I doubt he ever knew how much that meant to me but I am grateful all the same.  I didn’t know him well and never knew his family but I figured it was important to share this with you all how just being who he was touched my heart.  My deepest sympathies on your loss.

     It will be difficult to see or hear of Chandler Lions Club  without picturing the two of you together. You both not only dedicated  yourselves to serving others; you  dedicated yourselves to each other while serving others.

I first met Ron and RJ back in spring of 2006. We were relocating back to Chandler after 14 years in SF Bay Area. Having joined the Lion's Clubs in 1994  I was looking for a club in Chandler. One evening, I attended a meeting of the Chandler Lion's Club. Both Ron and RJ welcomed me and my wife Darlene and I joined. We have been friends ever since. I know of no other individuals more dedicated to community service. Ron will be missed and our prayers go with RJ and the family.

Ruth I am so sorry about Ron. He was a loving and kind soul. Always enjoyed visiting with you two. You both were so interesting. Prayers to you and your family. You keep the lions going in honor of Ron.

R.J. you have been such a great friend  these last 40 + years.  You and Ron pushed, pulled, and dragged me into Lions.  I have  enjoyed every minute of my journey.  Last month I received my 40 year pin.

Ron Wick and RuthJon Wick were my nonjudgmental friends for many years. I treasure Ruthjon’s friendship and help.  Both were creative and helpful to all.

I first met RJ and Ron in my early 20's. They started me on my path to being a Lion. Ron taught me how to write a winning newsletter as a Muk Bird. Ron's Mukilteo Lions proudly sponsored the Alderwood Royal Pride Lions-from Muk Bird auxiliary to a Lion. So many conventions, pancake breakfasts and Senior Christmas parties.... So many warm and wonderful laughs and hugs. Our last visit was the best ever. It So reminded me of how much I loved and missed Ron and RJ. May God bless you peace and comfort. I know Ron is looking down on us and smiling.

I didn't know Ron long, but long enough to know he was a loving and caring person, who truly loved his wonderful wife, family, and life. Ruth Jon, you have many many years of wonderful memories to keep close to your heart and recall as often as you want. He will be missed dearly by us all.

Our favorite spot.  Dad drove down to Tucson to see me when I was at a conference.  Of course we had to go to IN-N-OUT for lunch...it went without saying!
