Robert (Bob) Roe, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Cortland, Illinois, went to live with his Savior on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the age of 78. Bob was a 1952 graduate of DeKalb High School. He entered the United States Navy after graduation and served his Country with Pride until 1956. In March, 1957, he married the Love of his Life, Arlene (Neuendorf) Roe and they shared 55 beautiful years together growing closer each year. Bob worked for the DeKalb Fire Department for 8 ½ years. He then worked for the Local Telephone Company until retirement in 1991. Bob also was very active and served as Assistant Scout Master and Commissioner in DeKalb, IL. Bob and Arlene relocated to Phoenix, AZ in 1994. During this time, he enjoyed his retirement by working in the woodshop, serving as the computer club president and jewelry making, while enjoying trips in the motorhome with their dogs. Even though Bob resided in AZ, he was always loyal to his Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #64 for fifteen years and did service in the Honor Guard and Color Guard Units. Bob also provided service for The Helping Hands Organization, always willing to lend his hands to help others in need. Bob is survived by his wife Arlene Roe of Phoenix, Son Michael (Jesse) Roe of Phoenix, Brenda (Donald) Smith of Phoenix, Diane (James) Eggum of Trona, CA, Janet (Mark Jensen, fiancé) Hurst of Phoenix, 5 grandchildren Aaron (Marrisa) Eggum Ridgecrest, CA, Mark Eggum Trona, CA, Michael Smith Phoenix, Andrea (Brandon) Sanders Ridgecrest, CA and Kieley Hurst Phoenix and I great-grandchild Shiloh Eggum of Ridgecrest CA. Bob is preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 14, 2012 at 1:00p.m. at Day Springs United Methodist Church, Tempe Arizona.
