Robert Harrison quietly left this Earth on January 7, 2020. “Bob” was born in Santa Monica, California on September 21, 1943. He grew up in Southern California, learned the machine shop trade from his father and attended school through Orange Coast Junior College. From there he came to Arizona State University on an athletic scholarship and studied Business. When Bob graduated from ASU in Business Administration he enrolled in the College of Education where he earned a teaching degree and later a Master’s degree at California State College, Long Beach. It was at that time that Bob devoted his life and professional career to education. He was a Teacher and Administrator in Tempe Schools for over thirty years. Always a student advocate, always a strong supporter of teachers, Bob became a beloved member of those who raised children. He always told people he didn’t get into education to “get” rich but he wouldn’t have changed his decision for the world. His big heart had found a place to call home.
Bob married Marsha Sandoz in the spring of 1967 and has two children; Julie Anne (Billy) Brooks and Thomas Henry (Paige) Harrison. He has a total of five grandchildren including Shelby Anne (Eric) Patrick, Wyatt Henry Smith, Torrey Jeanne Smith, Trey Henry Harrison and Jake Thomas Harrison. He also has two great grandchildren; Harvey Moore and Houston Moore. He was extremely proud of watching his children and grandchildren grow into successful and loving adults.
Upon his retirement from Tempe Schools, Bob became a Realtor/Broker and began taking great satisfaction in finding homes for family, friends and those going through difficult times, frequently returning his commissions to the buyer.
Bob served in the Arizona Army National Guard based in Tempe, Arizona from 1967-1972.
