Richard Gerald Hannan was born on April 18, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio to Quentin and Ruth Hannan. He graduated from Central Catholic High School. Shortly after graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy. As soon as he was discharged from the Navy, he was hired by IBM. Richard started out in hardware, repairing mainframes later moving into programming and eventually transitioning into development. His career spanned nearly 40 years culminating in being named a Distinguished Engineer. In retirement he enjoyed reading a good book and golfing at least once a week with friends. His greatest joy was international travel including journey’s to Japan and South Africa.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Jerilyn Hannan of Arizona; daughter Allyson of California; grandsons Nathan and Eli of California; siblings Paul of Florida and Pat of Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
At this time there will be no service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
