On May 12th, 1930 Marian and Cecil Jury were blessed with their first of four children, Phyllis Jean. Phyllis was born in the small town of Clearfield, Pennsylvania, a place that she would meet the love of her life, Robert Houser.
On May 16th, 1945, just four days after her 15th birthday Phyllis married Robert and would go on to have seven children with this wonderful man. In 1968, the family packed up and headed west to Arizona where she would live out the remainder of her long life.
Phyllis’ loves included sewing, reading, cooking, sharing stories, and collecting angels of any kind. She was always sewing until her sight no longer allowed her to do so. During the 70’s, Phyllis would sew dresses for a Square Dancing group her and Robert were in.
Music became a bigger part of her life as she developed Dementia. She would love to sit and listen to Country music and she remembered all the lyrics, just one of the miracles of song.
Sadly, all things must come to an end and even though she was one of the strongest people I know, Phyllis Jean Houser, passed away peacefully on November 13th, 2014. It is only fitting that her most loved singer, Eddie Arnold, was playing when she returned home. Many memories will live on in us even and she’ll always be in our hearts.
“Death leaves a heartache nobody can heal, Love leaves a memory nobody can steal.”
