I knew Michael through the Exchange Club of Phoenix as we were members together for many years.  I always appreciated Mike's dedication to Exchange and his principles of service.  He was a very giving and caring man who made a difference for those in need.  Michael was instrumental in the Phoenix chapter's success and was an  important reason the club made an impact in Phoenix and the surrounding communities.  I will remember him for his dedication, friendship and commitment to others. 

We  met Michael through the Chandler Elks and "Wreaths Across America". He was devoted to veteran's matters. He worked tirelessly for Wreaths Across America and  placed his flags of memory in Sun Lakes Country Club. We no longer live in the area but know that Michael will be sorely  missed in the area of veteran's services and charities. Rest in Peace brother. Condolences to his family.

I remember attending several Southwest District training meetings in Mike and Susan's home. Both were always very welcoming and hospitable. Mike was very instrumental in starting and continuing the Tempe Healing field around September 11. He will be greatly missed. Susan, may you feel love and support from the many Exchangites and others that Mike affected.

I'm so sorry for the sudden loss of Michael! I first met him when I traveled to Chandler 3 years ago to talk about the merger between the two Exchange Club Districts and then had the opportunity to learn of his passion for Exchange while he served as a VFR on my District Board for the past two years! He had the passion, the ideas, and the commitment for making a difference in whatever he took on. My sincere sympathies to his wife and family!

How does a person pick one memory from over 50 years of friendship? Senior Prom Champaign at your house for our entire group , weekend parties, your Volvo and staying friends and getting back together for reunions in Bellevue. My youngest even remembers Uncle Mike. As we deal with the shock and sadness of losing a long-term friend, may our memories, the stories and messages from you remind us all how special you were. 

I truly enjoyed working with Mike in the Exchange Club. Mike and I were presenters on the same panel at a National Convection. He will be missed.

In 2018 we planned a motorcycle ride to 48 States in 10 days to raise money for the prevention of child abuse.  Trevor generously volunteered to drive a support vehicle.  At the last minute Trevor's vehicle was unavailable and Mike stepped up.  Trevor and Mike drove the entire route -- 48 States in 10 Days -- in Mike's truck.  They were an awesome pit crew duo: carrying extra gear, running to the parts store to buy oil and filters, bringing us cold water and snacks at gas stops, and always patient with my mistakes.

Mike was dedicated to his country, passionate about preventing child abuse, and devoted to the National Exchange Club.  He will long be remembered for his service.

I will never forget the fun Mike and I had in St. Louis at the National Exchange Club Convention hanging with Sid Mobley going from room to room partying!


I met him in Mrs. Winey's 6th Hour English class, at Bellevue (Nebraska) High School, in 1966. We were immediate friends, stayed that way through graduation, and, by a fortunate last-minute twist of fate, ended up at the University of Arizona together. Although our paths diverged when we graduated, we met up again at our 10th and 20th reunions. He was a "Ladies' Man," and probably never understood why I didn't follow his lead - although I think he appreciated my being his "Wing Man." We worked four different jobs together, and he got me out of trouble almost as much as he got me into trouble. I've always felt he was more of a brother to me than my own brother, and I will miss him.
