John Staley, 81, passed away on February 8th, 2017. John was born in Nelson, Missouri on February 2nd, 1936 and lived in the area until moving to Kansas City at age 17. Shortly after, he served a two-year term in the Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Following military service he attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, where he met his wife Betty Christene and earned a Bachelor of Science in economics with a business minor. John and “Chris” were married Aug. 1, 1959. They moved to Phoenix in 1967, where they raised their three children. John spent his career at Farmers Insurance as a claims adjuster and a litigation specialist. He was an avid golfer and member of Saint Stevens Parish where he volunteered with the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He is survived by son Greg (Cauleen), daughter Julie (Tom), son Scott (Tia) and grandsons Michael, Connor and Cameron. Visitation will be held on Friday Feb. 17 at 6:30pm followed by a Rosary and Wake at 7pm at: Sun Lakes Chapel, 9240 E Sun Lakes Blvd N, Sun Lakes, AZ. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 18th at 10am: St. Steven's Catholic Church, 24827 S. Dobson Rd, Sun Lakes, AZ. Interment will follow at Valley of the Sun Cemetery.
