departed this world on September 15, 2019 in Gilbert, Arizona. John's parents, Wilton
and Sylvene (Gilliard) Fant brought him to Sandusky, Ohio as a baby. He was educated
in Sandusky Public Schools. As a boy he was a true-life Tom Sawyer and enjoyed
exploring his surroundings with his childhood friends. Also during his early years, John
believed and accepted Jesus Christ as his savior.
In 1965, John joined the United States Marine Corps and fought in Danang and Chu Lai
Viet Nam. After spending four years serving his country, John returned to civilian life
and settled in Los Angeles, California where he attended college and had several jobs. In
1987, John also became a business owner and started the 3-J Trucking Company.
John was an avid roller skater, loved to fish, rode motorcycles, liked traveling with his
wife, and enjoyed engaging in conversation with strangers and friends alike.
John leaves to cherish his memory, wife Jennette, son Jason, daughter Dionne,
stepdaughter Monica Allen and husband Kacey Allen, stepson James Haynes, brothers
Donald and Roy Fant, sister Birdie Heidelburg, sister Terrie Bowens and
husband Morris Bowens. Grandchildren Brian and Brianna, Jacob, Pierre, Mya, Mikayla,
Kacey Jr, Malia, Kyle, one great grandchild and over 30 nieces, nephews and friends. He
was preceded in death by his parents, son Brian, sister Jacqueline, and brother Jamie.
