Jan was born in February 1937 in Cincinnati, OH to parents Nicholas and Marie Waltner. She was the first of 3 children with two sisters Joyce (deceased) and Joan. Jan passed away September 2, 2019 surrounded by the love of her family.
In Cincinnati, Jan’s early years were full of music, studies, sports and friends. At an early age, Jan learned to play the Accordion. As an aspiring musician she made a record ( on ’78) with local Accordion celebrity musician Dick Cantino.
Jan married her grade-school sweetheart and love of her life, Robert (Bob) Burnett in 1957. Over 58 years of marriage, Jan managed all the domestic affairs, providing everlasting love, support and affection for her family. Keeping the family together from Cincinnati to California and Minnesota finally retiring to sunny Arizona.
Jan’s focus in life was her family that she treasured. She was dedicated to raising the kids as Bob traveled internationally for 3M Company. Jan was forever at service to her family, extremely resourceful at keeping kids sports and school schedules in toe including taxi service, even while driving a car without a heater in Minnesota -10 degree weather. Whether cooking, cleaning, shopping, binding wounds, doctor and hospital visits; Jan was always first to wipe away a tear with care and a smile providing something warm to drink and eat.
Her children include: her son Scott, wife Tami, and their sons Joey and Eric; her son Mike, wife Suzanne, their two sons John and Tom, and their daughter Emily and husband Kevin Marusiak; her son Bob and wife Jody; and her daughter Teri and her daughter Paige. Jan cherished her grandchildren providing endless love. With an “I love you” often spoken to grandma, she would flash a big smile and say in return, “I love you more.”
