Obituary
James Albert Roberts passed away on Friday February 26, 2016 with his family surrounding him. He died peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vera Onera Roberts, his son Edward Roberts and his daughter Cara Germaine along with her spouse Norm Germaine. Jim was preceded in death by his son Jamie Roberts and his daughter-in-law Kathy Roberts. He had 4 granddaughters and 7 great grandchildren that were Jim's pride and joy. Jim was born on November 12, 1928 in Dallas, Oregon and spent the majority of his youth in Corning, California. This is where he met his sweetheart, Onera, and they were married shortly after graduating from Corning Union High School. They moved to Sacramento, California where they raised their 3 children and eventually retired in Chandler, Arizona to be closer to their grandchildren. Jim was a hard worker and spent his working years with Safeway Stores and Colombo Baking Company. During retirement, Jim and Onera served an LDS mission in Pocatello, Idaho, spent 6 years as camp ground hosts on the Mogollon Rim and another 6 years serving in the family history center at the Mesa, Arizona Temple. Throughout his life, Jim was a fun-loving, enthusiastic man who enjoyed living life to the fullest. He treasured his family and loved making them laugh. If he wasn’t dancing, singing or telling jokes, in some other way, he was always the life of the party. Jim and Onera's 67 years of marriage marks the longest marriage the mortuary has seen. Though he is gone, he leaves behind a legacy of pure, unconditional and eternal love for his family. Services held at the LDS Chapel on Cooper Rd. and Ocotillo on Friday March 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. and laid to rest immediately following in The Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler, Arizona.
