He was born on April 28, 1936 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the son of the late William & Lillian (Saunders) Boots.
Jim attended Godwin Heights High School in Michigan and later earned a degree from the American Institute of Baking in Chicago IL, where he graduated at the top of his class.
He moved to Arizona in 1981, where he finally realized his dream of owning his own bakery; The Great Salt River Baking Co. (originally located in Earl’s Market in Scottsdale), where he was known for his award-winning pastries, including eclairs and napoleons.
Jim enjoyed fishing, playing guitar and key board, and Bible study. A great animal lover, he always carried treats in his pockets for neighborhood animals.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene Ferguson and his son, Reggie Frieswyk.
Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara, and his daughters Erin Boots (Chris Arntz) and Toni Peterson (John)
