Jim was born in Sandwich, Illinois on September 22, 1936. He graduated from Waterman High School. Jim married Edith Ann Hunter on June 29, 1968 in Jewell, Kansas.
During his working years, Jim was a Professional Vehicle Test Driver for General Motors Desert Proving Grounds in Mesa, Arizona. He enjoyed cars, both Indy and classic. He was an avid sports fan, watching both basketball and baseball. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs. Go Cubbies!
Jim is survived by his daughters, Jamie Hunter and Jonna (Joe) Copalman; his grandchildren, Payton Swaim, Aubrey Chitwood, Riley Swaim, Nora Copalman, and James Copalman; great-grandchildren Ikaika “Kai” Swaim, Chloe Swaim, Kyro Lopez, and Athena Chitwood; niece Lynn Ross, and nephews Jim Ross and John Ross.
