Helen Lorraine Nelson

Helen was born on October 31, 1930 in Lodi, Wisconsin to the late Ed and Ruth Ophime. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Eugene Nelson; her sister and three brothers.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Debra Ripley (Dale) of San Tan Valley, AZ; her sons, Kim Nelson of Chandler, AZ, Todd Nelson (Candy) of Phoenix, AZ, Jamie Nelson (Debbie) and Barry Nelson both of Chandler, AZ; her 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was a long time member of the American Legion Post 35 in Chandler. She was a talented artist and oil painter. She enjoyed dancing and was an avid card player - winning most of the time. Above all else, Helen was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by so many who were blessed to have known her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service to be held at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 E Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248 on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m with a viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m. Following the service, she will be laid to rest with her husband in Valley of the Sun Cemetery.

The family will continue celebrating her life later in the week at their traditional family campout on the Mogollon Rim.
