Garrett was born on August 29, 1994 in Austin, Texas to Brian and Melissa Loper. Garrett attended Desert Ridge High School, Gilbert Early College, and Grand Canyon University. He was certified in Medical Billing and Coding. He worked for Rudy's BBQ and was a cofounder and drummer for the thrash metal band, Intent.
Garrett was a performer at heart. He was an excellent musician, releasing two albums with his band, Intent. Vox Populi and then Exile with a music video for Victims of Conquest. Garrett toured various areas of the U.S. and played many different venues.
In high school, Garrett performed in many productions including Fiddler on the Roof, Beauty and the Beast, Subway, a variety show, and talent competition. He was witty, charming, caring, compassionate and loved performing.
Garrett was a very responsible young man who purchased his first new car at age 22 and owned his own home by age 24. He was a loving and caring son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to many.
Garrett enjoyed playing games with family and friends. He was very competitive with lighthearted banter. The love for “the Game” included things like chess, backgammon, RISK, computer, gaming consoles, bowling, fishing, pool, poker, black jack and darts. Music was his passion and his life's work. Traveling while performing gigs allowed him to experience many places. He loved the beach and vacationing with his family in San Diego.
He was reliable, dependable, trustworthy, kind and considerate. From a young age he took the responsibility of being a big brother very seriously. He was proud of every achievement and milestone that his sister made. Garrett had a special relationship with his Papa, Nana, and uncle. He often made time to visit them. Childhood friend, Jeremy Lambert along with his parents Karen and Buddy Lambert were like extended family.
Garrett is survived by his parents, Brian and Melissa Loper; his sister, Emily Loper; grandparents George and Eddie Belles and James and Patricia Loper; and uncles Richard Belles, Thomas Belles, and Kevin (Kristin) Loper.
A funeral service for Garrett will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery. Following the funeral service, Garrett will be laid to rest at San Tan Memorial Gardens in Queen Creek, Arizona. There will be a reception held in Garrett's honor directly after the service at 3468 S Eucalyptus Place, Chandler, AZ 85286.
