Elisabeth Theresia Stiner was called by the Lord on April 7, 2011. Born in Pfarrkirchen, Germany in 1919, she was oldest of four siblings, and the last to pass. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, three grand-children and two great-grand children as well as in-laws in Germany. She came to the US in 1956, and lived in Chandler for 45 years before moving to Trilogy in Gilbert in 2002. She died looking forward to being re-united with her family and friends. Elisabeth Theresia Stiner (Schmetzer) 91, of Gilbert, Arizona, went to be with the Lord and Savior at 9:40 am on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at the Eckstein Hospice in Scottsdale.
She was born May 3, 1919 in Pfarrkirchen, Niederbayern, Germany to Johann Thomas and Elizabeth Schmetzer (Steininger). Elisabeth had two brothers, Johann Thomas (Hansl) and Rudolf Walter (Rudi) and one sister, Lydia Matilde Reichel (Schmetzer) who proceeded her in death.
On November 14, 1940, she married German Schadle in Munich, Germany.They had one son Klaus. They divorced May, 19,1948.
Elisabeth experienced many hardships during World War II. She worked as a technical photographer at a BMW factory outside of Munich, where she met James Stiner, a US Airman in the military police. They married January 14, 1956, moved to Williams Air Force Base (now Gateway). The following year they bought a house in Chandler, where she lived for 45 years. Jim died in a prison break in Florence September 1967. After Jim's death, Elisabeth remained a widow for the rest of her life. She moved to Trilogy in Gilbert in April, 2002. She enjoiyed playng cards, Mah Jongg and life in general.
Elisabeth is survived by her son, Klaus; her daughter-in-law Alfretta; three grandchildren, Tricia A. Hill and her husband Shawn of Mesa; Erich M. Schadle and wife Nicole of Paris, Virginia; and Jason R. Schadle and wife Laura of Springfield, Virginia. She had two great granddaughters, Campbell and Colleen.
Funeral services will be 11:00am on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery. Elisabeth will join Jim in a final resting place.
