Donald was born on August 11, 1929 to William T and Rose J. (Baietto) Pollett in Kangley, IL. He graduated from Streator Twp. High School in 1947. Shortly after graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy, stationed at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. He married his High School sweetheart, Patricia J. Jessen, February 5, 1949, at St. Edwards Catholic Chapel, Jacksonville, FL. Upon being discharged, they returned to Streator, IL at which time Don began working for the Public Service Company (later known as Commonwealth Edison Company). He transferred to Kankakee, IL and retired 34 years later in 1986, as a Customer Representative, moving to Chandler, AZ after retirement.
Don loved to fish and he enjoyed fishing his entire life. He also loved hunting on the snow-covered cornfields of Illinois. He loved gardening and taking care of his yards, which always was a quality known by many. He also loved playing cards, never turning down a game of Euchre or Poker.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of 69 years and six children, Jodeen (David) Drazy, Patricia Capanna, Kevin (Annette) Pollett, Keith (Michelle) Pollett, Linda (Dale) Nishijima, Jeffrey (Wendy) Pollett, 12 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren. Don is also survived by one sister, Carol (Bob) Mulhern and one brother Glen (Alice) Pollett. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 4-7pm (5-5:30pm memorial blessing), at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd. Chandler, AZ 85248. (website: www.valleyofthesunfuneralhome.com).
