She was born in Bremerton, Washington on April 11, 1935 and later graduated from Queen Anne High School. She married Richard M. Smith in Seattle, Washington on September 5, 1953. Diane enjoyed a fulfilling career in retail sales, working for many years at Sears on Aurora Avenue in Seattle and later with family friends Joe and Vicki Fitch and Bill Barnes at Awards Service. She had a passion for sewing, knitting, working in her yard, and especially traveling.
Diane is survived by her children: daughters, Debbie Brunette, Danielle (Erik) Wallgren, and Darci Becker; grandchildren: Devyn (Tim) Gunn, Josh (Katy) Wallgren, Elyssa Wallgren, Zack Wallgren, Jacob Wallgren, Hannah Becker, and Nathan Becker; great grandchildren: Kayla Tocco and Emma Tocco; nieces, Robin (Mike) Masters and Jill (Jack) Ambler.
Funeral services will be held in Washington state shortly after the new year.
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Dementia Friendly Sun Lakes, in memory of Diane. Donations can be sent to Dementia Friendly Sun Lakes which will support both The Perfect Place Adult Day Program and The Sun Lakes Memory Cafe. Both of these amazing organizations have provided innumerable moments of joy, support, love, and connection for both Diane and her family.
