Darlene was born in Chicago in 1947 to Florence and Orville Luzadder. She attended Farragut High School before finding a career as a bank teller.
Darlene met her husband, Robert, on a blind date. He did not impress her. Thankfully, Darlene decided to give him another try, resulting in a 53 year marriage. One of their favorite stories was about his first dinner with Darlene's parents. While trying to impress her parents, he thought cutting a pickle with a knife and fork made him look sophisticated. Needless to say, Darlene still teased him about it. Many years later, she would also make sure that he knew a ladle and spatula did not make good Mother's Day gifts.
Darlene quit working when they had their son, Brian, and daughter, Lisa. She spent her days doting on them and the numerous friends that they brought home. She made sure there was always extra food and a safe place for everyone.
In the 1990's, Darlene started working at Eberhart, the nearby grammer school both her children attended. Darlene was already a member of the PTA and loved working with the kids. Darlene also loved the lasting friendships she made with her coworkers.
Darlene was extremely proud of both her children and their spouses. Her love was unconditional. She was ecstatic that they had made it further in life than she did and would talk about their achievements to anyone who would listen. She bragged about her son's intelligence and work ethic. She spoke of her daughter's caring and kindness. Darlene's pride increased exponentially with the addition of her grandson Grayson, her "baby."
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, younger brother, Dwight Luzadder, father, Orville Luzadder, and her mother Florence Luzadder. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Cindy, daughter and son-in-law. Lisa and Adam, grandson Grayson and grand furbabies Gibbs and Loki. Darlene also leaves behind her nieces and nephews. Last but not least, she is survived by friends who have become family over the years.
There will be a celebration of Darlene's life at a date to be determined.
