Dale F. Schuerman of Chandler passed away Friday, March 16, 2012. He was a grandson of early pioneers of the Sedona Red Rock Loop Road. His grandparents settled the area in the 1870's. Dale was raised on one of the ranch homesteads that is presently the Red Rock State Park. He lived there from 1930 until 1942, when the place was sold to Jack and Helen Frye. He was in the 15th Air Force where he met Cal Golden, and together they formed the Flying Cowboys. Dale was the fiddle player and Cal the square dance caller. Cal later became a world-known square dance caller from the 1940's to the 1970's. Dale was also a member of the Desert Country Musicians of Casa Grande for the past 20 years .Dale graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Administration. He worked in retail accounting for various firms in the Valley. Dale is survived by his wife Sue, and five sons: Dale E. (Deb), Carl, Kenneth, Michael, and Mark (Kelli) along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held, Friday, March 23, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, Chandler, AZ. with Funeral Services to follow at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Sedona Heritage Museum - 735 Jordan Road, Sedona, AZ 86336-3576 .
