Charles (Chuck, Charlie) Dix was born on November 14, 1924 in Lom Poc CA and died on October 22,2014 at the age of 89 at home in Gilbert AZ. He grew up in CA but his heart was on the ranch in Hamlin TX where he love riding his beloved horse, Throckmorton. He graduated from Life Bible College and followed a calling to Alaska where he met his precious wife Wilda of nearly 59 years. Chuck loved his wife, family & friends well. Chuck leaves Wilda, two daughters, Priscilla Kay & husband Gene Hall and Melody Dix, granddaughters Angela and husband Michael Pinkston and Naomi Dix, great-grandchildren Destiny, Justice, Isabella, and Lucas and his sweet niece Noanna and husband Bert Feldman. Chuck was preceded in death by his grandson Brent.
Chuck was an integral part of Anchorage First Assembly of God church where he served faithfully as a board member, mentor and teacher. He also filled in and preached at several churches in Alaska as the need arose. In later years, he and Wilda attended Crossroads Assembly of God church until their move to Gilbert AZ in 2010. Chuck loved studying the Word and praying. He was often sought out for wisdom and direction of young people and his peers. He has many “adopted” children who call him dad, many stating he was more of a father to them than their own. There was always room for one more at the dinner table and a room for someone to stay in his home. Although Chuck had limited sight, that never slowed him down or kept him from living life fully. He worked for Smyth moving company for many years and then for Alaska Teamsters until he retired. Chuck was well known for his long daily walks through downtown Anchorage where he visited with many people throughout the city, he never knew a stranger. Chuck was a great storyteller often laughing in the midst. He and Wilda were avid travelers and enjoyed visiting with friends and family across the country. He will be remembered most as a man who loved his family well.
Chuck spent his last days surrounded by family who cared for him until his passing. He received excellent care from the staff of Sage Hospice.
