On September 22, 2015, at the Chandler Regional Medical Center, our beloved Brenda was called home to the Lord after a long courageous battle with cancer. Brenda was born on December 24, 1961 in Trimont, MN to Gerald and Marian Langeland of rural Butterfield, MN. She attended elementary school in Odin, MN and graduated from Butterfield-Odin High School in 1980. While attending school she participated in volleyball, basketball, and band.
During her school days is where she met the love of her life, Bryan Rohwer. They began their journey as kindergarten classmates and were united in marriage at St. Olaf Lutheran Church on August 4, 1984, in rural Odin, MN. Soon after becoming married, they packed their belongings and headed to warmer weather in Chandler, AZ, where they built their home and began their life together. In 1985, they became employed at America West Airlines. They enjoyed flying every flight together and cherished and adored every friendship they encountered, until Brenda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012.
It was through the love and support of her “Army of Angels,” that allowed her to sustain her “staying strong and positive” attitude to the very end. Even through her battle with cancer and many other obstacles, their faith remained strong. Each day began with Bryan reading to Brenda from their daily devotional book called, “Jesus Calling.”
Brenda’s passions included spending time with her only love Bryan, along with spending time at home with her two dogs, Romeo and Pena and spending time with her family and friends. Brenda also enjoyed shopping, spending the summers at Lake Shetek, cheering on the Vikings, entertaining, relaxing in their pool, redecorating, and finishing projects around the house.
Brenda is survived by her husband Bryan Rohwer of Chandler, AZ, her parents Gerald and Marian Langeland of Butterfield, MN, brother Brian (Colleen) Langeland of Owatonna, MN, sisters Melanie (Kurt) Semmel of Stamford, CT, and Mary Lee Langeland of Chandler, AZ. Her sisters-in-laws Julie (Greg) Thymain of Morris, MN, Deanna (Mike) Strenge of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jennifer (Chris) Carlson of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, maternal grandparents, her father and mother-in-law, Robert and Sharyl Zender, and brother-in-law Mark Zender.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation in Brenda’s honor to a charity of your choice.
