Barbara Kay Roberts

Barb was born on October 6, 1944 to Robert and Geraldine Burlingame in Clinton, IA. She attended schools in Clinton and Davenport, Iowa graduating from Davenport High School in year 1963. Barb completed her bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Iowa and later in life went on to complete her Master’s degree at Arizona State University.

Barb taught at several elementary schools in Iowa before moving to Mesa, AZ in 1986 where she landed at Holmes Elementary School. She taught first grade at Holmes until her retirement in 2010. Barb was extremely proud of her school, her fellow teachers and the achievements of her students

Barb loved reading, traveling, going to the theater and playing bunco with all her friends.

Barb was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Nancy. She is survived by her nephews Jeffrey (Mary) Groves and Bradley (Sheila) Groves and her niece Susan (James) Carpenter and several great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at the Valley of the Sun Funeral Home in Chandler, AZ on June 10th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow her services at the Holiday Inn, 1200 W. Ocotillo Rd, in Chandler.
