Barbara Goodding Bell

Barbara G. Bell passed away peacefully in the grace of her loving children on April 19, 2019 at the age of 92. Barbara was a loving, supportive wife, a caring mother, and a woman committed to her family and community. Survived by her daughters Nancy and Laurie, her sons Martin and Jerry, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband and partner Dr. John E. Bell in March of 2013. Barbara was born October 19, 1926 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska where she met her adoring husband Dr. John E. Bell. Barbara began her career as an educator and soon dedicated herself to supporting and caring for her four children. John and Barbara migrated to Wyoming, Colorado and finally landed in Tempe, Arizona where they were active in the church and community. Barbara was an active member of the University Presbyterian Church and choir. She was also an active member in the P.E.O. Sisterhood. As her children grew older and began their careers in education she transitioned her energy into leading the Papago Women’s Golf League, Sun Lakes Women’s Golf League, and local bridge nights. She was a fierce competitor and a loving grandmother. Barbara lived a full life and is loved greatly by her family. She will be missed.
