Andrew Forney was born in Nashville, Tn. On October 31, 1926 to Arthur and Ettie Mae Forney. He was the youngest of seven children, all have preceded him in death, James, John, George, Zola, Viola and Phordama.
Andrew was raised in Princeton West Virginia. As a young man in 1943, he joined the Armed Forces ,where he proudly served his country in War World II. He received an Honorable discharge. Andrew later moved to Chicago, were he met the love of his life Christine. They were married on June 28, 1952 and from that union 1 son was born, Michael. Andrew and Christine were married for 64 years, a true reflection of the love and devotion they shared. Andrew had several jobs throughout his life. He was a Precinct Captain in the Chicago area 4th ward for many years, making sure his precinct was well represented. He owned and operated a paper stand in Chicago on 79th Morgan; he worked at the Post Office and was an Illinois Cook County Sheriff. Andrew worked hard to ensure that his family was well taken care of and had the best of everything.Andrew and Christine moved to Meridian Ms. In 1979, where he owned and operated a food truck. They later moved back to Illinois in 1990, where they resided until moving to Arizona in June 2016 with their son Michael (Denise).
Andrew also known as Kojak, loved baseball and played on a semi pro baseball team. He loved traveling, dancing, listening to his music and playing cards. Andrew enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved sweets, especially his wife’s cakes and pies and of course his candy. He spent his remaining days in Arizona with his family, enjoying the warm sunny days, which he loved and sitting on the front porch in his swing watching the workers build homes.It would be impossible to sum up 90 years of life for a man of Andrew’s character. He was an excellent husband, father, grandfather and friend, who always believed in enjoying life. Andrew departed his life on Tuesday December 6, 2016 after a short stay in the hospital. He will truly be missed but he leaves his family with many memories of him, that will be cherished forever in their hearts. He is now looking after his family from heaven and meeting up with his friends and family that have gone on before him.
Andrew leaves to cherish his memories; a loving and devoted wife Christine and 1 son Michael (Denise); 7 grandchildren; 10 great grand children and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 15, from 10 until 11 am, followed by funeral Services at 11 am at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery,10940 E. Chandler Heights Road,Chandler, Arizona 85248. Interment with Military honors to follow at Valley of the Sun Cemetery
