Amy Beth Darnell of Apache Junction Arizona passed away Monday, July 12, 2010 at the age of 19 with her family by her side after a month long battle of a Leukemia relapse. She was diagnosed with ALL (acute lymphocytic leukemia) at the age of 13. After 6 years of being cancer free her leukemia returned.
Amy was born October 27, 1990 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She moved to Arizona at the age of 3 and graduated from Apache Junction High School May 2009. She completed training at the Airline Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida in September 2009. At the time of her death she was employed by Waffle House.
Amy touched the hearts of many and will be remembered for her love of sports and animals. Amy was active in Girl Scouts and played tackle football in middle school, participated in track, basketball and softball. She was on the AJHS swimming team.
Amy had many pets through her lifetime including Daisy who was there by her side to comfort her during her treatments the first time and by her again now in Heaven. She leaves us with her dogs Dozsha and Roxy.
Amy is survived by her Mother and Stepfather Renee and Gary Nelson, Father Leon Darnell, her sister Molly (Matt) Beaver, brother Thomas Darnell and step-brothers Tanner and Hunter Nelson, and one very special niece Madyson Beaver.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Uncles James and Joel Flatt and her Aunt Linda Flatt-Wehmhoefer.
