With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Susan Elena Roig, who passed away surrounded by her loving family at the age of 83. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit. Susan was the loving wife of James Robert Roig for 64 wonderful years. Caring mother of Darren Roig (Starnell) and Dean Roig (Kim); grandmother to Alexa Deffes (Ryan), Connor Roig (Jordan), Cassidy Rucker (Jonathan), Trent Kestler, Jenna Roig, Brittany Kestler, Jody Honold and Joshua Honold; great- grandmother to 14 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Barone and Doris D’ Aunoy; her children, Derek Roig and Danielle Kestler (George); her sister Doris Dellsperger (the late Charlie).
Susan devoted 64 beautiful years to her beloved husband, creating a bond that stood the test of time as a beacon of commitment and devotion. A nurturing wife, a devoted mother, and a doting grandmother, she poured her heart into her family, weaving a tapestry of love and support that will endure for generations to come. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her loved ones. In her younger years, she found solace and joy in the vibrant strokes of oil painting, leaving behind a collection of masterpieces that continue to adorn the walls of the family home, each canvas a testament to her creativity and passion. Yet, her greatest source of joy was found in the simple moments spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family. Whether gathered around the dinner table or sharing stories by the fireside, she reveled in the warmth of their company, finding happiness in the bonds that held them together. Rest in peace, dear Susan, your memory will be cherished eternally.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
