Shirley Lynam entered the glory of heaven’s gates on Wednesday April, 10th, 2024 at the age of 97. Born on October 04, 1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Shirley was a devoted housewife of the late Sidney Lynam Sr, who she cherished and adored. He was truly her best friend who loved to travel and spend time together.
Shirley also, through her kindness and generosity, dedicated her life supporting many charities like St. Jude and Paralyzed Veterans of America, selflessly giving her time and resources to those in need. She was also involved in many clubs such as the Council on Aging, Neighborly Nine Club, AARP, and VETS Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter Sylvia Taylor; grandchildren Rachel Taylor and Glen Taylor Jr.; great-grandchildren Kelsey Hernandez-Moran, Tyler Tenorio, Brissa Taylor, Mya Taylor; great-great grandchild Carson and Paisley; ex-son-in-law Glen Taylor Sr.; and many cousins, Aunts, and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband of sixty plus years Sidney Lynam Sr.; her parents Jules Steverson and Edith Carlson; and her son Sidney Lynam Jr.
With a heart full of love and a smile that could brighten anyone’s day, Shirley was a lively woman, often proclaiming “Its happy hour somewhere!” with her favorite drink, a Jack Daniels and Sprite with two cherries, in hand. So raise a glass to Shirley, she will be greatly missed.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. A catholic and non-denominational service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
