Michael James Saucier, Sr., age 78, of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on October 27, 2022, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Michael is survived by his children, Darlene Saucier Jarrell and her husband, Chad; Michael Saucier, Jr., and his wife Katie; Wendy Saucier, and Brian Saucier; his grandchildren, Isabella, Owen, and Leila Jarrell, and Andrew and Luke Saucier; his siblings, Janet Guarisco and her husband, the late Vincent; Henry Saucier, Jr., and his wife Janice; Marlene Wagner and her husband Larry; Elizabeth Lotz and her husband Fred; the late Ralph Saucier and his wife Laura; and his brothers and sisters in-laws, Lucille Howat and her husband Louis; Ronald Mangipano and his wife the late Mary Ann; Gaynel Siebert and her husband Charles; Darryl Mangipano and his wife Janice; and Gwen Gros and her husband Randy. He is also survived and remembered lovingly by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his late wife of 45 years, Jennie Rose Mangipano Saucier, and his parents, the late Henry Desire Saucier and Ona Mae Lemoine Saucier.
Michael was born in New Orleans to Henry and Ona Mae Saucier on November 18, 1943, and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. He worked as a project manager for the federal government for 35 years. He received the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award to commemorate his distinguished leadership skills and professionalism. Michael enjoyed partaking in many activities, especially building cherished treasures in his workshop for his family. He was very active and adventurous, always willing to go kayaking, hiking, or fishing. He was often outside tending to the yard or vegetable garden. Some of his other hobbies included watching game shows, playing cards, telling jokes, and walking his dog, Dixie. Michael was a humble man of many talents, but his overall favorite pastime was being the proudest "2-Paw" to his grandchildren, and spending time with his family.
On Friday, November 4, 2022, relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE STREET, in Chalmette, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A funeral mass will begin in Michael’s memory at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
