Maxine Melerine Pajares

Maxine Melerine Pajares passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the age of 85. She was the cherished wife of 67 years to Ronald J. Pajares Sr. Loving mother of Ramona Savaski (Terry), Rhonda Pajares and the late Shelia Croll and Ronald Pajares Jr. Daughter of the late Lloyd Melerine Sr. and Cecile Melerine. Step-daughter of the late Lucille Melerine. Sister of Dale Sanderson, Laurie Verges and the late Stafford Melerine, Nathan Melerine, Bruce Melerine and Lloyd Melerine Jr. Proud grandmother of Jennifer Croll and Taylar Savaski. Great grandmother of Harlie Johnson and Frederick “JuJu” Johnson Jr. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Maxine was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. She was deeply devoted to her Lord and her church, and truly enjoyed life through raising her children, volunteering at the church fairs and spending time with her family and friends. She found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. Maxine will always be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her family, her caring and loving spirit, her laughter, and spoiling the grandchildren. She was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, April 21st from 11:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Maxine’s memory beginning at 12:00PM. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
