Marvin Andre Trapani

Marvin Andre Trapani, 79, of Carriere, Mississippi passed away in his home on Friday, April 28, 2023, after a long, hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Marvin was born on July 17, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Evelyn Schmidt Trapani and Frank Trapani, Jr., who predeceased him along with his older brother, Frank Trapani, III (Leatrice), who passed away last year. Marvin leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Sandra D’Antoni Trapani, his three daughters, Gina Hayes (Steven), Tracy Al-Jabi (Laith), and Andrea Licciardi (Charles), eight grandchildren, Kail Al-Jabi (Genevieve), Regan Jarrell (Ryan), Madison Davis (Joshua), Austin Hayes, Brynn Speights (Sean), Alixandra Licciardi, Abigale Licciardi, and Koen Al-Jabi and one great-granddaughter, Scarlette Jarrell. He also leaves behind his brother Paul Trapani (JoAnna), many cherished nieces and nephews, his best friend since childhood, Barry Lamia, and many, many friends from St. Mark Church, Carriere, Chalmette and Folgers Coffee Company, from where he retired after almost 40 years of service.

Marvin served in the Navy but is more revered for his service to others. He was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and could do anything once he put his mind to it. However, he will likely be remembered by most as their tumbling teacher as “Mr. Marvin” taught tumbling to hundreds of St. Bernard children for decades. While he will be missed terribly, his wife and three daughters find solace in the fact that he will now have the opportunity to father his only son, Tony Michael Trapani, who predeceased him in infancy. In lieu of flowers, Marvin’s request was that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Shriners.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 9:00AM – 11:00AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Marvin’s memory beginning at 11:00AM. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
