Maria Turner

Maria Elena Turner, born June 1,1935 passing away peacefully on November 27, 2023, at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife to the late Lawrence Luis Turner. Loving mother to Socorro Nunez and Yolanda Joiner. Proud grandmother of Tania Nunez, Michel Joiner (Mario Pina), Dixie Stark (Tony Stark), Nicole Meyer (Corey Meyer) and Anastasia Nunez; great-grandmother to Kenneth Stark, Mila Meyer and Addyson Stark; sister to Hipolito Castaneda. She is preceded in death by her parents, Angela Tejeda and Jose Virgen; her brothers, Pedro Aguilar and Ascension Castaneda.

Maria was a remarkable woman who lived a full 88 years, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. She shared countless fishing and golfing adventures with her late husband, Lawrence, creating cherished memories by the water and on the green. Maria had a green thumb at heart, she found solace in tending to her garden, nurturing plants that mirrored the love she showered on her two daughters and grandchildren. Her home was a haven for love and warmth, not only for family but also for the dogs she adored and treated like her own babies. In celebrating her life, we remember a woman whose greatest joy was found in the bonds of family, the beauty of nature, and the unconditional love she shared with all those fortunate enough to be a part of her world.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
