Margaret D. Faust went peacefully to her heavenly home on December 25, 2021 at the age of 88. Margaret (Maggie) grew up in New Orleans Louisiana as a fun-loving easy-going child who was adored by her parents and older siblings. In high school, she played the violin and won in track competitions. At eighteen years of age, she moved to St. Bernard Parish where she married Jack Faust and her priority became being a loving wife and mother. Artistic and humorous in nature, Margaret spent her life entertaining and caring for her children. As a mother, she made each of her five children feel valued and special, and sacrificed all that she had to provide for them. As her children became adults, she became a valued friend to each and could always be found in the company of one or more of them. Margaret was a faithful believer in the Lord and was grateful to Him throughout her lifetime. She valued and tried to live by His word.
Maggie had many friends. She was joyful and kind, which enabled her to capture the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was generous and selfless beyond compare and enjoyed giving, especially to those she felt might be forgotten. She was always the perfect lady who valued good manners, forgiveness, and appreciation; and she had the ability to find goodness in all that surrounded her. She loved riding in the Shangri-La parade each year for over 20 years where her goal was to ensure that every older person or child along the parade route would receive a special treasure. She enjoyed working as an office clerk and sales person before marriage and after her children were older. Maggie was very active and always had a group of friends or adult children to join her at the casino, the theater, special events or her weekly keno club. She brought joy and laughter to every activity in which she was involved. She was a sweet person who was rarely seen without a smile on her face and had a kind word for everyone! She was a great example of love, kindness, forgiveness and fun! She will truly be missed by family and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Jack J. Faust, her mother and father Helen and Anthony Cabalero, and her siblings Helen Bernard, Hilda Ducote, Joseph Autin, and Enola Orillion. She was the loving mother of five children, eleven grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children Jack J. Jr. and Darlene Faust, Debra and Enoch Nettles, Beverly Faust and Stephanie Fussell, Julie and Jimmy Badinger, Peggy and Robert Leu and two whom she considered her adopted children, Karen Springer and Tyler St. Claire. Her grandchildren include Catherine and Chris Massenburg, Mathew and Marcy Faust, David and Gabrielle Faust, Rory Anglin and Jenna Laredo, Cody Anglin, Dainya Hubert, Rusmond Nettles, Jinny and Mike Sheron, Jimmy and Brittany Badinger, and C. J. and Danielle Fountain. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Isabella and Anneliese Massenburg, Violet, Mathew and Victor Faust, Olivia Nettles, Allie, Jayda, Brody and Charley Rose Anglin, Daylin and Draysen Hubert, James and Presley Badinger and Carter Fountain. Margaret also dearly loved her nieces and nephews and her beloved little puppy Vinnie.
The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Gus Suarez and Nortre Dame Hospice, and all of Margaret’s doctors who gave her care, especially Dr. Joshua Neeson and Dr. Amy Hammonds. We also appreciate her in-home care givers Diane Ramos, Leslie Jordan and Wendy Robertson.
Visitation will take place at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a service in Margaret’s memory beginning at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are welcome.
