Magda Perez Moreno

Magda Perez Moreno passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 in Chalmette, LA, at the age of 82. She was born in San Marcos, Nicaragua, on May 27, 1940 to the late Silvestre Perez and the late Bertha Maltes de Perez. Magda was the loving mother of Rhina H. Kissee, Magdalen M. Vasquez and Bayardo S. Herrera. Proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Sister of Francis Perez de Urcuyo. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins in New Orleans, Miami, Texas, California and Nicaragua. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Benjamin H. Moreno and Dr. Bayardo Herrera.

Magda devoted her life to raising her three children and working as a Cosmetologist at her salon Magda’s Beauty to Go. She loved having lunch with friends at the Council on Aging (COA), going to the casino to win, and going to Isleno Festival since she was a descendant of the Canary Islands. Magda had an avid love for gardening and especially planting her African violets. She was a kind, caring, devoted mother, grandmother and friend who loved her Chalmette community. She loved spending time with her fur baby Boomer. Magda was a member of Stitch in Time. She will be forever remembered for her love of people, her infectious laugh and her sweet and sassy disposition.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at OUR LADY of PROMPT SUCCOR, 2320 Paris Road, Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM. A memorial mass will begin at 12:00 PM.
