Madline K. Rutt, 97, of Chalmette, passed away on 4 February 2021 in New Orleans. Madline is survived by her sons John Black (Stephanie), Keith Black (Barbara). She has 4 grandchildren, Modesta Cooley, Jessica Grenner, Keith Black Jr. and Jonathan Black. 4 Great-Grandchildren Joseph Grenner, Jenson Grenner, Jaden Pittman and Makayla Black. She is also survived by 1 brother Leonard King and many nieces and nephews. Madline is preceded in death by her spouse, Don Rutt, and by her first marriage to the late Harold H Black, her father and mother Harry and Argentine King, brothers Royal (Lucy), Clifford (Catharine), and sisters Virgin Jeanfreau (Neddie) and Nora West (Marvin). Madline was born in Daigleville, La. to Harry and Argentine King on 1 December 1923. She went to school at Maumus in Arabi, La. She was a riveter at Higgins Boat works during WWII and later had a job as a salesperson at Maison Blanche. She was involved in Eastern Star at Andrew Jackson Lodge in Arabi, La. She was a national champion for Pine Needle Basket weaving to which she received numerous awards. Funeral services will be private with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
