John Priola Sr.

John Priola Sr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Josephine Lafauci Priola. Son of the late Ellen Lynch Priola. Also raised by his aunt the late Jenny Lynch. Loving father of Gaetana P. Ricard (and husband, the late Daryl Ricard); Tina P. Orillion (and husband Paul); John Priola, Jr. (and wife, Kim); and Anthony Priola (and wife, Tara). Proud grandfather of Amy, Stacy, Daryl Jr., Jeffrey, Scott, Johnny, Joshua, Jeremy, Hali, Olivia, and Ty. Great grandfather of Trey, Ally, Lane, Taylor, Avery, Ella, Grace, John Charles, Brooks, Ryder, Rhett, Evan, Emma, Luke, Logan, Owen, Ansley, Reid and Ella. Brother of the late Gerard Priola, Mary Bourgeois, Ellen Coryell, Philip Priola Jr. and Frank Priola. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John was born in New Orleans, LA. He was a former resident of St. Bernard Parish for 41 years and a resident of Mandeville, LA since Hurricane Katrina. He was a veteran of the military having served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from the New Orleans Police Department and also from the St. Bernard Parish School Bus Drivers Association. He was an active member of the St. Tammanard AARP Chapter No. 5408 and Star Fitness Center.

The family would like to extend a special thank you for all the loving care given by Ron and Helein Silva, St. Tammany Hospital Hospice (especially his nurse Beth) and sitters (Sharon and Greg).

John will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation to be held at MOST HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 501 Holy Trinity Dr., Covington, on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will begin at 12:00 PM. Inurnment will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
