James Henry Amerson Jr. of Shreveport, LA passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021. He was preceded in death by his beloved husband Danny Duke; his parents Jim and Jo Amerson; his brother Jay Amerson; his grandparents Max and Dorothy Massee; and his grandmother Mary Amerson. He is survived and fondly remembered by his sister Jan Roper; nephews Jeremiah Amerson, Jacob Amerson, Keith Jennings, Daniel Harris and Ethan Harris; and uncle Ned Massee and wife Nell, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
James called New Orleans home for 25 years. He loved his dog Kacie and she will miss him dearly. The family of friends James made at Louisiana Tech University have been a part of his life for 45 years. He is remembered as a gentle soul, a true gentleman, and a sense of humor unmatched by most. He loved cooking, canning, gardening and traveling the world. James enjoyed a passion for music, theater and art. New Orleans festivals, Mardi Gras, making stained glass art, flea markets and attending a good estate sale were some of his favorite things. Most of all, James treasured his relationships with the friends and family in his life. He will be deeply missed and will always remain in our hearts.
James was a generous person and supported many charities. Donation in his memory can be made to Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission or Pet Savers, Inc. in Caddo Parish, Louisiana.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, November 8th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM.
