He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores Ragas Ebel. Loving father of Henry Ebel, Jr. (Sandy), Keith Ebel (Rhonda), Michael Ebel, Sr. (Jean), Joan Condon (Bryan) and Cheryl Barré (Bryan). Son of the late Edward Ebel, Sr. and Virginia Rizzuto Ebel. Brother of Juliet Mitchell (the late Billy), Kathryn Smith and the late Edward Ebel, Jr. (the late Eleanor). Proud grandfather of Brian, Christopher, Stephen, Nicole, Erica, Jeanne, Michael Jr., Bryan II, Benjamin, Cassidy, Gabrielle, Stephanie and Andrew. Great grandfather of Victoria, Lily, Lorelei, Lucy, Alexis, Abigail, Logan, Gabe, Aiden, Blaise, Emma, Brendon, Riley, Jacob, and Jackson. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Henry was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Mandeville, LA following hurricane Katrina. Henry was always active in his community, including serving as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts for 10 years, coaching for Carolyn Park in St. Bernard for 17 years, and a proud member of the United Way and Knights of Columbus. He was an active parishioner and Eucharistic Minister of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in St. Bernard and then of Our Lady of the Lake in Mandeville, LA and past active member of Toast Master’s giving him the gift to speak in front of small and large crowds. He will always be remembered for his dedication to his family, his friends and his community, his laughter, and spoiling the grandchildren. He was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at OUR LADY OF THE LAKE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 Lafitte St., Mandeville, LA on Monday, December 10th from 10:30AM - 12:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Henry’s memory beginning at 12:00PM. He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Dolores in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
