George Arthur Tullos, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday January 27, 2019. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family and wife of 37 years, Thelma Estelle Clements Tullos. George is the father of George Arthur Tullos Jr, Jeff Lee Tullos, Peggy Tullos Esposito, Jason Curtis Tullos, and Amanda Lyn Tullos Betts. He is preceded in death by Robert Tullos Sr and Rachel Lynn Tullos. George is the son of the late Robert Matalvyn Tullos and the late Gertrude Elizabeth Hamlin Tullos Geis. He is the brother of Roba Dwain Tullos, Bobbie Jean Harvill-Wooldridge , Billy Doyal Tullos, and Freelon Dwight Tullos. George leaves behind a legacy of 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
George was born on June 1, 1929 in Trinity, Texas. Following his U.S. Army service he became a New Orleans resident where he owned Stephens Hardware, and worked for N.O.P.S.I. While later living in St. Bernard he worked for Violet Dock Port, Boland Marine, and was a shrimper and avid fisherman of the waterways in South Eastern Louisiana. He further went on to establish roots on a farm in Picayune, MS, and then operated a successful poultry farm in Columbia, MS. George retired late in life at his water front property in Springfield, LA. He enjoyed his entire life by spending time with his wife and family, and farming. George will always be remembered for his love of boxing, football, chewing Red Man tobacco, his hard work, his strength, his perseverance, his ability to overcome challenges, and his passion for fishing.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 9AM - 11AM, followed by a funeral service in in George’s memory beginning at 11:45 AM.
