With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edward L. Maise, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and uncle. Edward passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at the age of 82. A native of Lafitte and a former longtime resident of New Orleans and Slidell, Edward lived with his beloved family in Denham Springs. He was known for his kindness, wit, and unwavering devotion to his family. He cherished the simple joys of life, like rocking on the porch and spending time with those closest to him. A former member of Local 60, he worked at St. Martin’s Episcopal School and eventually retired from St. Tammany Parish School Board (Boyet Junior High School.)
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patsy O. Maise, who was his steadfast partner and greatest joy; his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Sidney Sullivan; and his three cherished grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, James Sullivan (Maggie), Michael Sullivan, and Ryan Sullivan. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathy and Craig Thompson, as well as his nieces and nephews, including his godson, Chad Thompson. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward “Nick” Maise and Clarisse R. Maise, his three siblings, Clarence and Warren “Red” Maise and Mary Jane Angler, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Runa Dubroc.
A celebration of Edward's life will be held on January 18, 2025, at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 PM. His beloved niece, Jennifer Thompson, will deliver the eulogy, and pallbearers will be Sidney Sullivan, James Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Ryan Sullivan, Craig Thompson, Jennifer Thompson, and Chad Thompson.
