Edward Frank Held III

Edward Frank Held, III, age 79 of Chalmette, Louisiana passed on April 5, 2025. He was born in New Orleans to Edward Frank Held, Jr. and Josephine P. Held. Survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Diane Held. Beloved Father of Joseph Held (Hope), Michael Held, Debbi Beaujeaux (Andrew), Stephanie Johnson (Michael), Kristi Sartalamacchia (Roney), Jason Tucker (Brandy) and Traci Charlton (Wesley). Also, survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Loving brother of Susan Danko (John). Special friend and carport buddy, Barnabi Landry. Edward graduated from Francis. T. Nicholls in1964 and then entered into the I.B.E.W union. He was a longtime employee of MECO and then Regional Transit Authority.

Edward dedicated his life to his work as a skilled electrician, hardworking and honest man. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all who knew him. Above all, Edward was devoted to his family especially the love of his life and forever dancing partner, Diane. He found joy in the simple moments of life and cared deeply for those around him. He was the pillar of his family, offering strength, courage, and a commitment to the people he loved. Outside of work and family life, he was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending time with his son and family on the bayou. He was an active member and fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion. He was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others. His love, laughter, and humor will be deeply missed by us all.

He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Josephine Held, his son Edward Held, IV, his grandson Joseph Held, II, his sister Geraldine Held and his brother Julius E. Baumer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 9:00 AM- 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral in Edward’s memory beginning at 11:00 AM.
